Shou is in fact a member of Wingfield's royal family. His father was the Emperor's brother. Once he left the orphanage and was adopted, there was little unusual about his upbringing until his adoptive parents died and he came to Yuusei Gakuen. Since he is half human (from his mother Mari's side) he can not open a portal to Wingfield using his blood (as Chris can). However, if he combines his blood with Kai's, they can open one together.

The creator describes Shou's personality as having a lot in common with a dog. (Loyal, energetic, a little dim-witted) This is why she put the collar on his character design. He takes after his father. Shou's personality is similar as both uke and seme- boyish, honest and very concerned with doing what's right.
